Polyhydroxy Acid

Chemical exfoliant / humectant Key active
What it is

Polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) such as gluconolactone and lactobionic acid are larger-molecule acids that gently exfoliate the skin surface while providing humectant and antioxidant benefits. Their larger molecular size limits deep penetration, making them milder than alpha-hydroxy acids and generally suitable for sensitive skin.
