In our reference data, Zinc Oxide (and) Coco-Caprylate/Caprate can feed Malassezia (fungal acne).
A pre-dispersed combination of zinc oxide (a broad-spectrum mineral UV filter) in coco-caprylate/caprate, a lightweight emollient ester carrier that improves dispersion and spreadability in formulations. It provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection while the ester component conditions and smooths the skin.
| Reported effect | How often | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| White cast / cosmetic residue on skin | Common | Inherent to zinc oxide, especially non-nano grades; not a health concern. |
| Mild skin dryness or transient irritation | Uncommon | Usually related to overall formulation rather than the ingredients themselves. |
| Contact dermatitis or allergic reaction | Rare | Zinc oxide and these esters are considered low-sensitizing; reactions are infrequent. |
| Acneiform breakouts / pore congestion | Rare | Coco-caprylate/caprate is generally considered low comedogenic, but individual responses vary. |
