  • Hydroquinone – This is a bleaching agent used for liver spots. They can be used for dark spots too(4).
  • Onion juice – Onions are loaded with vitamin A, C, and E. All three are antioxidants that protect your skin from discoloration (5).
  • Potato – Potatoes have bleaching property. They lighten skin tone and will reduce dark spots. Just cut a slice and place it directly on the dark spot.
  • Salicylic acid – Salicylic acid does not reduce the pigmentation in dark spots. Instead, it will soften the skin, making it peel off (6).

Apart from these methods, there are products specifically create for treating dark spots. However, using over the counter products or creams is not advisable.
